About Us

Bamboo Industrialization Project in Guatemala

The "Project: Industrialization of Bamboo in Guatemala" arises from the idea of implementing technical advice by specialists from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), for Guatemalan producers and entrepreneurs, to take advantage of the benefits of bamboo and local development of the same. This is a natural resource with abundant environmental and social benefits. In the country it is promoted mainly to increase the production of raw material in quantity and quality; and to improve competitiveness in the national and international market for the direct benefit of agroindustrial producers and entrepreneurs.

This Project will be developed for a period of 5 years, as part of a diversification in production in the agriculture sector, in the most suitable area for its cultivation. Likewise, as part of the activities and goals of the project, the diversification and increase of bamboo crops will be achieved on land suitable for it, in addition to advising on existing crops in the country. In addition to the advice for the increase and improvement of the production and quality of raw materials, products and services to achieve a link with competitive markets worldwide. Likewise, during the development of the project, conferences, seminars and research will be carried out that entails new knowledge about bamboo. For the development of the Project, there will be technical and financial support from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).


Next, a graphic scheme is presented which shows the phases or components of the value chain that will be prioritized by the project. The interventions in each phase are shown, which will benefit the promotion of the bamboo industry in Guatemala.



The interventions, through these four components, will allow:
a) encourage the production area through technical advice and introduction of species;
b) transformation with training and advice and business orientation;
c) marketing, strengthening market ties, and increasing and diversifying products; Y
d) research, with studies of the current situation and constant learning and strengthening of issues related to bamboo, for continuous improvement and development.


On the other hand, with the interventions by the technical consultancy of Taiwan, the objective of the project will come true. It is emphasized that it seeks the incorporation and implementation of technological innovations and administrative management in the four phases of the aforementioned productive chain.
